Female traveling alone in USA, Ive been to NY NJ CT and MA. Please give suggestions.?

I dont want to go to places like Disney where you'd enjoy it better with friends and family, maybe like a isolated/remote place, cabins, or even sight seeing, just somewhere to get away. Whoever can give me a unique location and why will be best answer. Unique as in not Vegas or walk of fame etc.

you could rent a cabin in the mountains of pa. i did that last year and it was so peaceful. go to the pennsylvania state campground website www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks. the one i stayed at was parker dam in clearfield, pa. very scenic and quiet and the cabins are just perfect, if you don't mind roughing it a little bit.

Personally, I love Gatlinburg, TN, and the surrounding Smokey Mountain area. It's beautiful scenery, God's country as it were, plenty of space and clean air to contemplate whatever you want, here's a link http://www.mountainchalets.com/. I did a google search using "gatlinburg tn cabin rental", there were lots more hits as well. Washington DC is great because there are HUNDREDS of museums that you can spend days walking through, and most of them are free. Colonial Williamsburg is wonderful too for a taste of what Colonial America was like. There are HUNDREDS of small towns all around the US that are off the beaten path, and that's where you'll see how most Americans live. Just go about an hour outside of any major metro area, and see what turns up. Hope this has given you some ideas

Not sure, but it sounds like your not exactly looking for *ANY* of the 50 states.. but lets fast forward a bit. Say end of next summer?

Treat your self to a real adventure and head to Northern Idaho. (our little secret), go to the Salmon River and go for a swim you will remember for life. Deep, green, pure, forest and river.

That much you can do alone, but if you have a small group, hit the rapids!!

There is a town in TX called Fredericksburg what would be a nice place for you to go. We live in TX and came upend it one day it isn't a place to take kids but it would be great for a couple or a single. Here are a few things they have there.

There are more than 300 bed a breakfast

Enchanted rock state natural area, with lots of hiking trails and place to picnic.
There are museum 6 or seven if I reminder right my fav. was the Gish's old west museum

there is a mini golf with 18 holes
there is a brewing company with a tour

there is horse back riding and a herb farm and a wild flower farm

There is even a race barn that races horses and greyhounds

and there is four or 5 wineries with tours and tastings

New Orleans is great, just keep your wits about you and don't do anything silly like walking down dark alleys alone late at night. The French Quarter is very much the same as it was before Katrina, as is the Garden District; there are lots of historical tours and sights to see, great dining, wonderful nightlife, and plenty of shopping. The casinos are open if you want to gamble a bit but don't want the full-on Vegas experience. You can spend your days wandering the sculpture garden at City Park and enjoy a fabulous dinner in the Quarter, in one of the jazz restaurants, if you want solitude, or change your mind and hit the clubs if you want a change of pace, and anything in between. They also really appreciate the tourism in New Orleans and you will be greeted warmly by every waiter, bartender and musician you see!

If your budget allows, try Austin during South by Southwest (SXSW) which is a week-long gathering of artists. There will be indie films shown, music of all sorts, and a ton of stuff to do. It is in mid-March and you can stay the entire week or just the weekend, or even better--- go the weekend before the actual event as there will already be a lot of music and arts events going on but you might be able to save some money. Air and hotel gets really high if you visit Austin near SXSW but it is totally worth it. An amazing experience; walk down any street in downtown and all the clubs will be open, even at 10 in the morning, with bands of all sorts from blues to punk to hip-hop to everything in between. It is a very safe city for a solo female, too.

If you prefer something more remote (and I know that's part of your question but I could not resist those other two as they are great experiences) how about a whale-watching trip in the Pacific Northwest? Some times of the year are better for actually watching the whales, depending on when they mate and migrate. But you can get a small cabin or hotel along the coast in Oregon or Washington State, and spend a few days sipping wine, enjoying the fresh air, and watching the wildlife. Look in the Eugene, Oregon area for travel companies that help book vacations in the smaller coastal towns. You will come back from that recharged and relaxed!

Sounds like you need to take a trip to the Grand Canyon!!! I found that I had no problem finding time away from people when I would go out to venture around. It is so beautiful!!
