Pregnant and travel to the USA?

I will be 8 months pregnant in March 2008. At the time we are supposed to be in Florida for a holiday we booked months ago. Flying down there is obviously out of the question. What are your thoughts on driving to Florida? Is it even a good idea to be going outside of the country so close to my due date? (We live in Manitoba-long drive!) What happens if I did go into labour while in the USA? Would my travel insurance cover all the expenses? Maybe this is a bad idea and we should just cancel our vacation....any advice or words of wisdom would be grfeatly appreciated! Thx in advance :)

I would check with your insurance to find out what coverage you would have in the USA. If you are driving, it would be okay, but at 8months you probably aren't going to want (or have the bladder capacity) to sit in the car for a long ride.

This can get really complicated because of both citizenship issues and medical issues .
It may very well be that if your child is born on American soil he will be an American citizen and for that reason US Customs may not allow you to cross the border.
For medical reasons your routing should take you through more cities than you would normally go through
So it would be Minneapolis , Chicago , Indianapolis,,Nashville , Chattanooga , Atlanta, Orlando....
