How long will my USA probation officer allow me to stay in the UK if I am already authroized for Int Travel?
I have been convicted of a crime in the USA. I am a US Citizen, born and raised and have no ties to the UK. My sentencing is not for 3 more months. I plan on flying to the UK and staying there to spend some time with some friends that need me. I will have to fly back obviously for sentencing. I have never been convicted of a crime before nor been on probation. This crime I have been convicted of is a 3rd Degree Felony regarding Tampering with public records. Its actually something I didn't do and got blamed for it anyway. But anyway...
The prosecutor gave me a letter confirming that he has no objections for interstate or international travel. I am supposed to give this to my Probation Officer. After I am sentenced, is he going to allow me to fly back to the UK?
I was told that he may work out that I would have to go to the local Police Station in the UK and check in once in awhile to let them know I am alive and well.
Cont'd....
He may also want to check in with the people I am staying this. If he allows me to go and stay while on probation, even if not for the entire duration, I have no problme with him calling or making me check in with anyone. Also, Being I am only allowed to stay in the UK for 6 months at a time due to UK Immigration laws, I will obviously be back. I also need to get back so I can work. So what is everyone's opinion on this? I am a good guy with a civil service background and I was told by the prosecutor he would talk to the probabtion officer and let him know that minimal supervision is required. Ofcourse, then its up to the Probation Officer to make that determination right? So what is your opinion?
FYI:
I am on Probation for 1 year.
