Yes you definetly will need a visa. You have to book an interview at the American Embassy which could take a few weeks where you bring all relevant documentation. Then going on that interview they will give you an answer which can take a couple of months, so your best bet is to get the ball rolling early.
Goodluck! |

You need to enter into the visa waiver programme. You have to say whether you have been convicted or not....
https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta also look on the US embassy site for info http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/index.html from the embassy.... Important: Some travelers may not be eligible to enter the United States visa free under the VWP. These include people who have been arrested, even if the arrest did not result in a criminal conviction, those with criminal records, (the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to U.S. visa law), certain serious communicable illnesses, those who have been refused admission into, or have been deported from, the United States, or have previously overstayed on the VWP. Such travelers must apply for special restricted visas. If they attempt to travel without a visa, they may be refused entry into the United States. - you don't need a visa if you are on holiday, that's what the visa waiver programme is for. |

"Under United States visa law, people who have been arrested at anytime are required to declare the arrest when applying for a visa. If the arrest resulted in a conviction, the individual may be permanently ineligible to receive a visa. In order to travel, a waiver of the permanent ineligibility is required. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply to United States visa law. Therefore, even travelers with a spent conviction are required to declare the arrest and/or conviction."
