Hi guys,
my name is Stephi and I'm from Germany but right now I'm living in New York for 3 months to do an internship. Well of course I'm also here to see new things and to make memorable experiences. Maybe some of you could help me while giving me tips what I shouldn't miss because I'm here for the first time? I'm a student so I can't spend a lot of money and that's why I would prefer some cheap insider tips =) On the internet I've found a website named smartsave.com/usa offering 20 % discount on several attractions. That's a really good advantage to me because some sights can be expensive. So I would be glad about getting some answers from you! |

Manhattan is not the only nice part of NYC to live in. In fact, many celebrities even have homes in Brooklyn. I would personally find a real estate agent to go through your options with you. With your children you need to factor in nearby schools and what areas are safest. I personally see no need for a car in NYC. It is really more of a hastle than anything. You need to worry about the crazy parking laws and the drastically increased insurance rates. I find it much easier and more convenient to just take the metro-north, cabs, or subways wherever I need to go.
I'm not sure what the circumstances of your move are, but if it is possible to live elsewhere I would do so. I say this purely for the fact that you have 2 small children. It is much better for children to live in a quieter environment where they can go outside and play in an actual yard. It would also be cheaper raising a child elsewhere.
