Default Are there any visa's similar to working holiday visa for canadian to work to fund travels in USA?

I am a Canadian citizen and wondering what type of visa I would need to be able to move to the USA and work there for anywhere between six months to one year. I would like to live in hollywood for the year or even just six months and try out the acting scene, i'm aware that I can stay in the USA for up to 6 months without a visa being a Canadian citizen but the problem is I will need to do a bit of work to help support myself. I am wondering if the US has something like Europe with the youth mobility scheme or the working holiday visa, so far I have not been able to find much unless you are in the medical field or have a specialised career that they are in need of. I would simply be looking to do about 20-25 hours a week of bar work or waitressing, something along those lines. I have thought about just applying for a student visa so I am legally able to stay there and can work a few hours a week but most schools because I would be considered an international student charge around 20 000 for the same program I could take in Canada for less than half of this. I am wondering if something like an acting conservative or theatre arts program outside an actual recognised
college would still classify as a student which is the case when you apply for language classes under working holiday program in most parts of Europe.

Canadians have a lot of advantages traveling to the USA as a tourist or for business (not the same as "work"), such as no visa required and you can basically come & go at will. Canadians also do not need a student visa to attend school or university in the USA.

However, Canadians do still have to get a work visa. Applying is complex and you effectively must have a sponsor (employer) before you can successfully apply.

It helps that you are looking for casual work. Search "international exchange programs USA" and there should be many links to programs that offer temporary and seasonal work in the US. An example is http://www.ccusa.com/country.aspx

Do carefully check any programs you might be interested in as not all of them are a good deal.

Good luck!
