Default I am traveling from the USA to the D.R. is there anything I need to know about customs etc.?

I know about the new passport rule and what can and cannot be taken on the planes. BUT I have heard stories about having to get your bags at your layover and rechecking them and some forms that need to be filled out. Is there a regular procedure or will I just have to ask a million people while it's happening? I've never been out of the country before.

...im not sure what you meen by d.r???
if is in europe you need to put all liquids into a clear plastic bag. and you cannot carry liquids over 100 mls.
you may have to fill in a costoms form (for some countries)and im sure you have already applied for a visa right??

d.r?? dominican republic?? if yes than there is a "tourist" fee you have to pay immediately getting off plane and its cash only $10 (well thats the way it is in punta cana idk about other airports). there will be "official" looking people offering to carry tour luggage, they are not trying to steal it, just to make a few bucks. DO NOT LET THEM!! roll your luggage yourself. same thing on returning to airport but it is unavoidable as they attack the trunk of the car as you pull up. bring lots of small bills for tipping. ya we had to recheck our bags and on the way home.
