Traveling by land to Canada from US, Will I have a hard time without a passport?

I will be driving into Canada in a couple weeks, all Gov. websites say a photo ID and birth certificate are sufficient unti summer '09.

I don't want to get stuck in Canada... Anyone driven through border recently?

yes.. but to mexico... right now you can just come back with your ID.. im guessing it's the same from canada.. cause you know.. either way you're coming into the US

yes, went through Port Huron a few weeks back. Needed only my ID and Birth certificate. My roommate lost her birth certificate at the casino we were at. they gave her a hard time but let me take her home anyway. So, even if you don't have your birth certificate you can still get back in.
