passport to canada when traveling by car?

do you know if you need your passport to enter canada by land? i know you need it when you fly but unsure if you need it when you drive across.

If you don't need it now, you WILL need it very soon - sometime in 2008. Your best bet is to go to the US INS or State dept. websites to get the correct information, rather than hearsay or 3rd-hand info you'll get here.

I think your still ok if you only have your birth certificate and driver's license. But you should double check. If you have a passport, then I would bring that instead. Better safe then sorry.
