Default Travel to Mexico or Canada with US Green Card and Philippines Passport?

Hi, my philippines passport has my maiden name and my green card has my married name. Can I travel with those two things to mexico and canada without a visa? What about the name differences? Can I just take a certified copy of my marriage certificate to show the difference?

You are exempt the passport requirement when crossing the U.S. Canada border. Lawful permanent residents may continue to present their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card. The Canadians will not demand a passport from a legal permanent resident of the U.S. who has evidence of that status.

International Visitors to Canada:
International visitors to Canada (not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents) must carry a valid passport and, if required, a visa.

Yes, you would be wise to carry your marriage certificate to show that you are one in the same person.

The entry requirements for Mexico may be different than for Canada, but for your return to the States, your green card will be sufficient.

I just returned from Mexico 7FEB08 with my wife who has a Portuguese passport with her maiden name and her 551 is in her married name and we had no problem , we did take our marriage certificate with us though. I was more worried about the TSA people at the airport. Just make sure the name on the passport , in your case whatever name is in your Philippines passport matches the airline ticket NOT the name on your 551. We had to change her name with very little time to spare in regards to that.

I think you need to either renew your passport or get it amended ASAP.

If you do not have time to get your Philippines Passport noted or changed with your married name, then bring your marriage certificate, passport and green card. You should be fine!
