Default Do I NEED a passport to travel from Canada to Mexico? Never had to 2 years ago.?

Travelling to Mexico
Although the Government of Canada recommends that Canadians travelling to any destination outside of Canada carry a valid passport, it is not mandatory to do so for travel to Mexico. To date, there has been no policy change requiring Canadians to travel with their passports to this destination. However, you must have sufficient identification to satisfy border officials of your identity and citizenship.

contact BORDER SERVICES. I know they have a web site.

Just do a search for Canadian Border Services Agency.

Yes - they changed the law starting in 2008. You will need a passport to go from Canada to Bahamas, Mexico, USA, etc.

I don't think Puerto Rico has inacted this law yet.

Yes, if you are crossing the border from Canada while driving you only need photo ID. But since you will probably be flying to Mexico you definitely need a passport.

The rules have been changed. You will need a passport for travel through the US. But just to get through the border crossings.

effective january 31st 2008 all passport laws have changed. check with passport canada to see what you need as for documentation. According to Passport Canada's website

"Travelling to Mexico, Although the Government of Canada recommends that Canadians travelling to any destination outside of Canada carry a valid passport, it is not mandatory to do so for travel to Mexico."

Double check with a travel agent to make sure. You wouldn't want to make travel plans then not be able to travel.
