this is post 9/11, get real. no a photo copy wont do, nor your license, too many fakes are out there. do you have a passport for whatever country you are a citizen of? get proper paperwork if you want to come and go, and if you are waiting for a green card or whatever you are not allowed to leave the country within a certain period. get free immigration legal advice if necessary

Since you are not a citizen you need a visa to go to Canada. Even American have to have their passport to travel to Canada. American citizens can go to Canada without passport but they cannot come back. If I were you would not take a risk at all. You might get luck going to Canada. But you wont be able to come back.

apply for a new I-551(Green Card) immediately. They will stamp your Passport for Temporary I-551. You will avoid all the hassle when you return back. a photocopy of a greencard is not acceptable form of status, they may let you in after they verify your info but you don't know how long or you probably will be in a lot of inspection. Goodluck!

apply for and pay $50 for a new PR card.
You can leave Canada without your PR card, but if you plan on FLYING back into Canada, then you may be denied boarding rights because you dont have the PR card that allows you to enter the country. At the moment driving back into canada (obviously this can only be done from USA) you do not need the PR card to re-enter Canada. But that may change. If you have applied for citizenship - then it's probably best to stay in Canada until you have been approved, taken the test and the oath, and applied for and received a Canadian passport. |
