Hey there, if you go to novascotia.com you'll find the information you are looking for, you can also order travel guides on that website. But if you have never been to Nova Scotia, I would keep my visit in Halifax to a minimum and spend my time elsewhere in the province...might as well spend time out of the the city enjoy "nature"

Weather in July is good - it never really gets too hot in NS - just nice and comfortable. July should be OK for rain too - but we are on the coast and the weather changes every 5 minutes!

There's lots to see and do in Halifax and surroundings - someone already mentioned the NS website. The Harbourfront is great to walk along, the Citadel is interesting too, go on the Harbour Hopper (an amphibious tour of the city and the Harbour), visit Alexander Keith's brewery and do the tour - always a favourite of people who visit us.

Outside of town day trips, there's Peggy's Cove (a nice little village with the most photographed lighthouse in the world) the Annapolis Valley and whale watching in Digby (also excellent scallops!)

I would suggest if you have the time to go to Cape Breton and see the Cabot Trail, also the Fundy Shore - they are more than a day trip but worth seeing.

Hope you enjoy your time in our City.

July is beautiful weather in NS. Halifax is a very nice city stop in and see the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and Pier 21. The most beautiful parts of the province are not always found in the cities though. The province is very large actually with many beautiful towns and beaches. I live near Parrsboro which is 2.5 hours from Halifax on the Bay of Fundy and we have the Fundy Geological Museum and Joggins Fossil Cliffs nearby as well as the Age of Sail Heritage Museum, Chignecto Park, River Hebert Models and many beautiful peaceful beaches. There is so much to see and do in Nova Scotia but it seems a shame to stay in the city.
