My wife and I will be traveling with our 18 month old son into Nova Scotia from Maine this weekend and are unsure of what ID he will need other than a birth certificate to enter Canada and of course, return to the US after our vacation. Can anyone provide me this information?

None of you need a passport to travel to Canada by LAND until after January 2008. You all need certified birth certificates, adults need government issued picture I.D. It would be good to carry baptismal certificate if available, or doctor bills, some other proof that the baby is your son. See website below.

For this weekend? You don't have time to do much of anything, so bringing the birth certificate is the best you can do. Do you have one that has the baby's footprint on it?
Or is it just a short form? For future travel, you can have your child put on his mother's passport, which will make life a whole lot simpler. |
