I am 17 years old and traveling to Canada next week. I am told I do not need a passport, but what DO I need to cross the border? I will be driving across.
Please be SURE of your answer and don't just post what you "think" it is. =] Sources would be nice. thanks |

I travel back and fourth from america to canada alot...you need proof of your citizenship...after Jan 1, 2008 a passport will be required though. Be prepared for alot of questions and they will most likely tell you to turn your car off and pop open the trunk...lately alot of people have tried to smuggle illegal aliens over the border. I use my passport or citizenship card to go over the boarder...if you're born in america im sure you must have something that states you're an american citizen with a picture i.d. right?

to travel by land all you need is a photo id and birth certificate until 2008. however to fly and boat you need a passport. photo copies aren't good enough.
crossing the border isn't a pain unlike what the guy posted before. you simply tell them where your going, how long your staying, and tell them you don 't have any fruits/veg/meat etc. then they wave you on their way and tell you to have a nice day. no biggie. however the lines in traffic can be horrible. |
