Do you need a passport to travel through Canada from Michigan?

I live in Michigan i want to go to New York for my honeymoon. Going through canada will cut 4-6 hours off my trip does anyone know if you do need passprt to travel through?

Not just yet. There was talk of it but it has been pushed back again due to people's complaint. As of rite now you will still need birth certificate, it may take a little longer to get back and then they will tell you to get one on re- entry.

Passports are not required until January 2008. Until then you can use your driver's license and birth certificate.

You do NOT need a passport if you are driving until Jan of 2008. I do not know where the previous posters are getting their information. I just returned from a Caribbean Cruise and did not need a passport. I have since applied/received our passports for next years travels. Check out the US State Department's website for the correct rules regarding passports.
