No need to call the embassy.
If you are a citizen of a visa waived country (Canada, Australia.United Kingdom,USA, ..) the passport must be valid during the time of intended stay. If you hold a EU passport it just needs to be valid on arrival at Spain. Don't trust your Government's travel advice websites, they are often written and never updated any more. Better go with the IATA database which is used by aircraft carriers to determine the document requirements of their passengers. This is usually up-to-date since aircraft companies must pay fines if they do not comply with entry requirements. I hope if he is travelling now and pas port expire after his arrival date in Canada Then its all-rite !but make sure its Minimum 6 months of validity After his Arrival in Canada! |

The answer to this is simple. Canada like most other countries these days require visitors to have a minimum of six months unexpired time on their passports on the date that you intend to leave the country you are visiting to return home. Note that it is not the date you travel to the country but the date on which you intend to return which is important.
You can apply to renew a UK passport up to nine months in advance of its expiry and you will be credited with the unexpired portion on the new passport. |

If he needs a visa then no, in order to get a visa processed you have to have a minimum of 6 months on your passport. I would check with the passport office, they would know whether he can or not. I could not travel to China because I had only 4 months on my passport
