I actually did a 2 week Canada trip a few years ago what we did was as follows:
Flew to Calgary While there we did Calgary tower, CFL game, and a trip to Athabasca Glacier while stopping at scenic spots on the way, my favourite of which was Peyto Lake which is an amazing colour. Drove to Kelowna via Banff, Lake Louise and scenic spots all through the Rockies. Watched the fish migration, visited a winery and admired the lake. Drove to Vancouver, did the tower, harbour and park and city sights. Before driving back to Calgary. My regret is not spending enough time in Vancouver and not heading further north as well. |

i would go by train visiting the most remote sites possible, some of the trains have vista view cars as well as sleepers.you can even purchase back pack tickets [allowing you to leave the train for a few days]
i would suspect that while any season would be great, fall will be a special spectacle to behold. i would further recommend bringing a decent 35mm[nikon. minolta,or old argus] camera as well as a better than good digital. my wife and i have always wanted to do this trip ourselves. |

I think you would get the most bang for your back in the Canadian Rockies and heading through to Vancouver. That would definitely satify the craving for scenery.
Greyhound offers a Discover Canada Pass that allows you unlimited travel for a certain number of days -- that would be the most affordable option (unless you had your own car). |

You could consider making your holiday a little more unique than the usual Canadian Rockies trip. While the Rockies are definitely one of the most beautiful parts of Canada, everybody goes there.
You could consider a trip to the Yukon Territory. The scenery is just as beautiful as the Rockies, without the crowds. The Yukon is beautiful in the summer. Must sees in the territory include: Whitehorse, Dawson City, Watson Lake Signpost Forest, Kluane, and the Carcross Desert. A carefully planned trip to the Yukon need not be expensive. And it would make for a unique holiday experience. |
