What documents that US Green card holder need to travel Canada?

i don't have valid passport from my country so, should i apply for re-entry document (will it be use as passport ) and with re-entry document n my green card will be enough to get into Canada and get back into US?

I would call Immigration if I were you just so you get the right up to date info.

My boss and her boyfriend just went on cruise to Mexico and he HAD to get an American Passport before they left. And he HAD to show it to come home and they stamped it.

Im not sure and I asked my boss and shes not either, if Canada is the same way, but just to be safe better than sorry.

Sometimes it takes a while to get it too so depending on when you're going you should check into soon.

EDIT... my boss told me that her answer is YES you need a passport now to travel to Canda. She said to call you local INS office.

you only need your valid green card and a state issued id such as a driver's license or learners permit
