I was wondering whether it would be best to drive or fly from Cleveland, Ohio in America to Montreal in Canada.I am planning a girl weekend out and thought that Montreal would be a very nice place to go, but I just can't decide on how to get there. All suggestions are welcome, and any info you know would be greatly appreciated. O and also we are on a budget, thank you!

Well it's a minimum 9.5 hour drive, and that's not counting snow. I don't know what your weather is like right now, but in Montreal we are experiencing near-record amounds of snow (over 45cm in one snowstorm). I would normally advise flying, but you'd have to be careful that the flights were running as scheduled because of the weather. Driving seems really unrealistic to me... 10hrs+ of driving for a weekend, especially an energetic girls weekend, seems totally not worth it!
Montreal is an awesome place for a girls weekend though, so I think you'll really enjoy yourself if you do come! We have amazing spas, amazing restaurants/bars and great places to visit together & take pics with all your friends ;) Have a great trip! If you need any other info, please email me: julia.p.smith@gmail.com EDIT: Why did I get two thumbs down? lol These things are so arbitrary... I said the exact same thing as the other two posters - 10 hour drive is long & treacherous in this weather, and flying is better (but check for delays/cancellations)... |

considering the awful weather we are experiencing , I would suggest you Fly! You do not want to be stuck in snow, and such, as Montreal is really buried- As you plan to go with your friends, why take the trouble and add more with driving/ car problems etc?Safe to fly, even if your flights are cancelled you don't have that much stress as if and when your car has problems

Personally, I wouldn't drive all that way, especially with all this heavy snowfall we've had recently! Nice but still... It can be quite hazardous driving on the road under those conditions, you get me?
Not to mention that you will be spending most of your "girl weekend" on the road; ten hours drive between Cleveland OH and Montreal QC is a damn long way to go, believe me! Of course, it's all up to you and your girlfriends but I would definitely fly to Montreal. Besides, you'll get here quicker! What more can you ask for? Enjoy your girl weekend & Happy Holidays! |

I suggest flying in because of the weather conditions. Driving would be hell. We received well over 50 cm of snow and it has been snowing a few inches every day since December 17. Clean up is slow and I wouldn't drive from Cleveland, Ohio which is just too far to stay only a few days. You'll have the added bonus of having to pay for hotel parking because there is no parking with the large snowbanks we have.
