I have a question about travelling to Canada by land.
I just asked a question about travelling by LAND to Canada from the USA, The Government site says all I need is my Birth Certificate and a Drivers License, But so many people say I need a passport, So Im confused.. Can anyone clear this up for me?
If it helps, Im flying from Houston to Vermont, Then getting a ride from my girlfriends parents to Montreal,Quebec. So im domestic flying then travelling over the border by car. Thanks
Yeah I would get a passport but its a little late-notice for it to arrive in the mail.. Im leaving next Sunday and I just wanted to make sure Id be able to get across the border.. but if it all fails, Can I get out of the car and walk down the border till I can hop it without being seen? (Last resort of course)
Also forgot to add, Look at this site, It couldnt be wrong can it?
"U.S. citizen travelers to Canada do not have a passport or approved alternate document such as a NEXUS card, they must show a government-issued photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License) and proof of U.S. citizenship such as a U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or expired U.S. passport. Children under sixteen need only present proof of U.S. citizenship. "
