Default Can a Convicted Felon Travel to Canada w/Sealed Record?

Ok--

I've been reading all these questions about convicted felons wanting to travel to Canada......

My question is...what if a person's record is sealed and had been for almost 1 year? What if a person is a law-abiding citizen now, has kept his nose clean for a long time and wants to travel and live like a "normal" person?

Would someone in that position still have to fill out all the Canadian "rehabilitation" paperwork or would that person just be able to travel with a passport?

Just wondering about this and thought I would ask.

If your record is sealed then it is not available on the database that the Canadian authorities can see, and you're good to go.

Since a DUI in the U.S. is considered a felony in Canada, I doubt you can travel there. You are normally asked if you have had a felony conviction and they don't care if it is sealed or not, you still got one.

i had a friend who had a dui 10 yrs ago (he got a driving restriction only for 6 months and time served). he travelled to canada a few weeks ago to go bear hunting and canada refused to let him in because of the dui a decade ago.

i would contact the state department to find out for sure.

The Immigration Service usually will want to see a certified copy of the arrest and the final disposition, and the final point is, and I’m sure in Canada it is the same but for US immigration purposes, a conviction, even if pardoned or expunged or sealed still must be disclosed on any immigration related application.
