My girlfriend wants to take one of my american bulldog pups from the uk to canada witin the next 2 days, Is it possible to get a pet passport in that short time?
The pup is 12 weeks old and coming from the uk into toronto, Whats the process? |

All you need to bring a puppy into Canada is a Rabies Certificate. The airlines may require a Health Certificate but the Canadian Government requires ONLY a Rabies Certificate. And even then, if the dog is from a country certified free of rabies, it doesn't need even that. The UK is considered Rabies Free (see link below).
I have brought many dogs into Canada from all over the world, most recently from Germany (a month ago). Keep in mind, Ontario has a ban on pit-bulls and pit-bull similar breeds. While most dog savvy people know the difference, you may find some push-back with the breed. Some people think anything with a big head is a put bull :-( Here's the list of what they consider a pit bull: Under the amendments to DOLA, pit bull is defined as: A pit bull terrier A Staffordshire bull terrier An American Staffordshire terrier An American pit bull terrier A dog that has an appearance and physical characteristics substantially similar to any of those dogs. |
