What kind of documents (ex. birth certificate, passport) do I need to travel to and from Canada?

I am going on vacation to Toronto and different people are telling me different things that I need to take with me. I think I need my birth certificate but I'm not sure. I don't want to get stranded.

All you need is a passport. If you dont have that then you will need a birth certificate and a couple of picture id's thats it.

You might need a Canadian ID card if you drive. Ask your insurance company

I believe that the laws have changed and now you need your passport. use a search engine and type in "travel requirements" or call a local travel agency

Travelling between the US and Canada is simple have an VALID ID ready and that is all. The border between the US and Canada is open and has few restrictions. You could cross on foot and no one would care.

Yeah, we're pretty easy up here, if you don't have a passport, bring a driver's license with photo id and a birth cert will suffice......

Depending on where you live a birth Certificate if in the US. If not a Passport. I live five minutes from the border, we use a drivers liscense, passport, birth certificate. it all works.

Pre 9/11, all you needed was a picture ID. Now, you may need a passport. Check with the main branch of the Post Office, they usually have a passport office located in them. Also, you can call the immagration dept.

I go a couple times a month. Drivers lis is fine but if you have a passport that will work also. That is it.....
