First things first, to get through Customs you will need your drivers licence and your birth certificate. A passport would help but its not a must.
Secondly, they *will* ask you if you are the owner of the vehicle, and it may not be good that you aren't. I would definitly rent a car. Yes, you could always try and go through with the truck, I've gone through with a car that wasn't mine, *but* it was my mom's and all they did was ask if I had her permission to leave the country with it lol.
Just be warned... if they deny you access to Canada, thats a BAD thing! Don't try and go through if you have a criminal record. They won't let you pass, you will get denied, and if you get denied you have to apply for permission to go any other time.. which is a big pain in the ass and costs alot of money, takes about 6-8 months for the paperwork to process, and you have to go pay to get your fingerprints taken.
Contact the Canada Border Services Angecy http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu-e.html and ask them everything you want to know before you attempt to cross. Because trust me, you don't want to be denied. It doesn't mean "Ok, no sorry, turn around you can't come in.." it's actually very bad to be denied.
