This is too general. You need to check the requirements for each country you are going to visit.

most countries in europe (definitely all countries in western europe-- france, spain, england, germany, italy, etc.) you can visit for up to 3 months without a visa. you just need a passport.

It all depends on the passport that you have. If you have a Canadian or U.S. passport, you don't need a tourist visa. If you have any other non-European passport, most likely you do.

Some countries require a visa and some don't. You don't need one for France but you do for Ukraine.
