Requirements to travel Canada and ALaska?

Hi there we are traveling from Texas to North Pole Alaska in July. Can anyone tell me the shortes rout, the requirements we need to cross Canadian borders any information would be extremely helpful as I have hardly been out of Texas.

I think you will just need birth certificates but it's best to check with the passport office to see if it's required.

I thought passports were now needed for all Canadian and Americans to cross...It may not be needed...but with all the tightening on border crossing you should at least have them with birth certificates and drivers licences...

Bring your passports cause you'll need them. The birth certifictes that the earlier answerer said is not needed. Passports only. And a few maps. On yahoo.com there is a site for maps. If you have a starting address and a ending address they can give you the best route.

North Pole is just outside of Fairbanks, so follow the roadsigns to Fairbanks. You definitely need passports to cross the border now. If you're taking minors and one parent is not present, you'll need to bring written permission from that parent that the child may travel with you (as to prevent kidnapping of children by non-custodial parent).
