Default What is the best way to travel to Toronto (Canada) from Long Island (New York)?

I am looking at the comparison between going all the way by air, or by a combination of driving and flying.

Depending on what area in L.I. you might be better off just driving to JFK in Queens and taking a flight. Just use the L.I.R.R. if you don't want to have to use long term parking.

If you mean driving part of the way through New York and than flying, well you could but in the end you'd probably pay less just flying in.

Have a great trip!

Here's what's involved with driving all the way, making the assumption that you're starting in Levittown, L.I., NY.

Add or subtract time and miles as appropriate from your actual start point on Long Island.

574 miles; straight thru drive time(no stops) 9hrs., 37mins. I would plan on 10 1/4 hrs. with a couple of rest stops. Add more time if you're in the metro area during daily commute time.

Use the Whitestone bridge, cross Bronx expressway, G. Washington bridge, to Ft Lee, NJ. Take I80 west through NJ, into PA, to I380. I380 to I81 north all the way into Canada. In Canada you'll take Provincial 401 West-Southwest to Toronto.

Can't advise on air travel costs, but you can use above info and your vehicle's gas mileage to calculate cost of gasoline. Probably some bridge tolls in there too.

Enjoy your trip no matter how you decide to get there.

I went to Manhattan to catch a Greyhound, but I'm sure that there are other ways of getting to Toronto.
