Check with the airlines. I know American and Continential airlines allow small dogs to travel with you in the cabin, as well as Air France and KLM. You should also check with the airlines if you need a health certificate for your dog...also ask about sedation during the flight. Also the some airlines have temperature restrictions. Most of this information is listed on the airlines website.

For a small fee most airlines WILL allow the pet to travel with you. Most airlines that allow in-cabin pet travel will have requirements on their websites, so check those out.
Your dog will need to be up to date on all his or her vaccinations and will probably have to have a vet release. |

Research this several months ahead of time- different countries have different restrictions- England needs a rabies vaccine within 6 months of going there. It also takes a while to get the international health certificate back from your states department of agriculture. Most airlines do pet travel- check the websites or call them. Small dogs can travel in the cabin in approved carriers- check with the airlines. Plan ahead and you should be fine.

Contact the airlines directly that have flights you want to travel on. Most dogs that small can travel in a special crate under your seat. That is best for the dog, especially on a long flight in hot weather.
Contact Fresh Pond Travel in Massachusetts. They do dog show trips in the U.S. and around the world. I've traveled with them a bunch of times (with my dogs) and would highly recommend them. Fresh Pond Travel 344 Boston Post Road Marlboro, MA 01752 (508) 624 - 0400 |
