Default Travel insurance for the Middle East?

I am a British Citizen currently living in Cairo. I am going to travel around Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and possibly Iran next month. Is it possible to get travel insurance with a British company, or are there any Egyptian companies that people can recommend?
I don't have a credit card as prefer to use my own money. Also, what the hell is meant by "not so proper countries?" I am sure they have hospitals and more than able to provide receipts.

I wouldn't get any travel insurance, its costly and very hard to collect money from the insurance companies. Also given you are going to not so proper countries it will be even harder to get legal records that your insurance company will accept.

Generally credit card companies offer travel insurance, call and ask your credit card company.

STA Travel, on most British city high streets, has an anomaly in their insurance: all countries bordering the Mediterranean are lumped together in the lowest-cost category. This works for Egypt, Lebanon and Syria, and equally Israel/Palestine, but not Jordan or Iran.

Hello,

You should look at the European travel insurance offered at:

http://www.globaltravelinsurance.com/ihitravel.htm

They have a plan for you.

I would recommend getting travel insurance. Try http://www.travelinsuranceweb.com. However with any travel insurance you buy it is porbably best to let them know your full situation so you have the proper cover. It may be worth calling them for advice - 0870 8903641 .
