Can anyone informed with more than an opinion explain to me why Pelosi has to travel to Syria and Saudi Arabia? And for what purpose. She's not a military strategist! She's not a war consultant? What could she possibly be doing except, like the Dems wasting my tax dollars to puddle jump in the M.E.???
I am NOT a republican!!!! |

Members of Congress, Republican and Democrat, do this all the time; they're called fact-finding missions or junkets.
2 Republican Congressmen were in Syria meeting with Assad the day before Pelosi got there, Rep. Robert Aderholt (R. AL) and Rep. Frank Wolf (R. VA). A Republican Congressman, Hobson (R OH) also accompanied Pelosi on her visit. As to whether the Bush administration talks to Syria, a few weeks ago the US Assistant Secretary of State held talks with a senior Syrian diplomat on the Iraqi refugee problem. So attacks on Pelosi are nothing more than partisan sniping. |

Pelosi, along with her entourage, travel to the Middle East because it is a way she can use our tax dollars for a vacation. Also, it is very self-serving and oh, such a phoney. Unfortunately her quest to be ruler of the World has just begun. Get ready for her attempts to turn the good old USA in San Francisco.
Pelosi will never have enough power to satisfy her. She is a vulture. |

We need a foreign policy where we have a dialog with the powers in that region. Its obvious that the Bush administration refuses to communicate with Iran, Syria, Hammas, or other non state actors and power brokers,
We have no effective leadership other than Pelosi at this time. In laying the foundations for an effective foreign policy, the next administration , ( and it won't be a Republican one), can begin the real work of finding political solutions towards establishing a working peace in this region. Power has shifted away from the Bush administration. |

The Iraq study group recommended that the US appeal to Syria for help in dealing with the insurgencey in Iraq.
According to Pelosi's office: "As recommended by the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan delegation led by Speaker Pelosi intends to discuss a wide range of security issues affecting the United States and the Middle East with representatives of governments in the region, including Syria." |
