is it safe to travel to Jordan, in the middle east?

Last time i was there..end Dec 2002. It was so safe then..can walk on streets at nite..but not quite sure how things are now..

I came to Jordan via Egypt. We travelled from Aqaba (south), to Wadu Rum. Petra and finally to Amman. Would love to visit there again..!
