I have lived in Egypt for 10 years and I am American, you can give the kids dollar bills and adults ask them. Most people want medicines as they are very expensive for American brand medicines like Tylenol, Tums etc.
For the kids there are other things I apprieciate, Crayola crayons, real big coloring books those are hard to find here. Those books that you have to stare at to really see the 3D picture, I can't find those or Waldo books here. Motivational books too. If at a total loss, well made purses, wallets, watches (watches are great as they dont' have the same brands here) they are expensive and have problems quickly unless you pay a very high price. Oh and don't go for the 99 cent stores thats like 6 pounds for $1 and they have the same stuff for L.E. 2.50 stores then paying out L.E. 6 believe me we can spot the cheap stuff as its flooded in the markets here. Oh you can go with hats and hockey jerseys wow that would stand out here. Good luck and happy shopping. |

I live in Iran, which is a Middle Eastern country & ofcourse IT IS NOT AN ARABIC COUNTRY. I'm not sure if you're going to visit Iran, but if you do so, you can get loads of ancient things like statues of Perspolis & the characters, and lots of other things of this type, ancient & traditional. The good thing about your journey is that you have dollar which is 9, 10 times more worthy than our money, so things won't be so expensive for you; the only thing is that salespersons, etc. sell things for a higher price for tourists + remember that you can bargain here when buying things & I bet it'll really help you get great dicounts.
By the way, if you're supposed to visit Iran, & my city, I can be a tour guide for you & I can take to different places :) . Have a nice vacation. |
