What have your experiences been with travel to the Middle East? (Not Iraq or Kuwait during the war, I know how that is!) I've been to Bahrain and must admit, I loved it! My husband is often in Dubai on business and I am thinking of flying over to join him for a trip sometime!

I have been to Israel a few times and had good experiences each time. It is a good place with lots to offer. Quite a variety. Good history, good tourist sites, nice people.
All of the Middle East is like that. Just don't be in the wrong place at the wrong time. |

I lived in Saudi Arabia and Qatar for many years and must say the Middle East is a fascinating place to live as well as visit. Dubai has changed much ... it is very commercial but if you enjoy shopping, you will love any of the emirates. Qatar is a bit more laid back but still much fun. Arabic food is excellent, and with today's gold prices, you can pick up some bargains. In short, I would recommend it. And if you are so inclined, meet some Palestinians ... they're everywhere ... and learn a bit about their life story. A different perspective than you will get from the media in the US. Good luck!!

We lived in Qatar for many years up to april this year. It used to be a more traditional place but as they will hold the Asian games this december, it is becoming a small Dubai. You will experience something new and exotic at the same time. High buildings, huge malls, prestigious hotels but discover the souks, go for a sand dunes safari and get to know the locals. You can also visit Oman which is very close. You must bear in mind that summer are VERY hot. Go for it.
