Default As a gay/lesbian couple, do you stay in B&Bs while traveling?

My partner and I are traveling and we're thinking of staying in a B&B b/c it's less expensive. We usually stay in Gay/Lesbian run B&Bs but this location doesn't seem to have any. Do you think it's okay to stay in a B&B or should we just go to a hotel? I worry about our safety and our hosts comfort about us staying in their home.

I shouldnt think it would matter at all, they run the B&B to offer you a service, if you are really worried perhaps you could ask them when you call them up.

Me and the boyfriend would usually stay in a hotel but thats because we rarely get away and when we do its usually to either his apartment in france or his cottage at the coast. So more money to spare.

I think it would be fine to stay at the B&B. My cousins husband's family owns one and trust me, you'd be surprised at the things they see. If you feel uncomfortable just "popping" in then mention in a conversation with the owner that you are lesbian and that you can stay elsewhere if it makes them uncomfortable.

It depends what country you're talking about I guess. In the UK I don't think you'd have much of a problem - me and my girlfriend have regularly stayed in B&Bs. Sometimes we've had funny looks or questions of 'do you want a twin room' but most of the time its been fine!
if you're really worried you could always call up beforehand and let them know that you're gay (to avoid any potential 'shocked looks!)

Yeah it should be ok. I mean everybody has to sleep. If you dont feel safe then you have the right to leave. They cant just tie you down and force you to stay.

Of course you should stay in a B & B if you want to.

The B & B owners are running a business. They have every reason to want to make you and your partner feel safe and comfortable in their establishment so that you'll come back again and recommend them to your friends. I can't imagine that you would have any reason to worry about your safety. And as for your hosts, why would they feel uncomfortable? They don't know for sure what your relationship is with your partner, and even if they suspect that you're more than "just friends", its still none of their business. Their business -- if they're savvy businesspeople -- is to make YOU and your partner feel comfortable, not pass judgment on their guests.
