What is a vegan (or even a vegetarian) to do for food when travelling?

I've had to resort to going to a local grocery store and buying conventionally grown produce, just to keep from starving!!!! Ever try to find a vegetarian meal in a small town? Good luck with that!!!!! When are restaurants going to wise up and realize the millions of vegans and vegetarians need to eat too???

idk but my sister said if she ever travelled and they didnt have vegan food it is not a big deal because it is part of their culture. Sorry but i think you should respect where you are be okay with eating dairy and such.

I never understood why vegetarians have a hard time eating away from home. If you are in a small town without veggie options you can... gasp... get food from a grocery store like you said. Why does everyone have to eat out when traveling? You can always order sides at restaurants or find a diner-breakfast all day is very veggie friendly. If there is nothing to eat I order breakfast, pancakes, waffles, english muffins, toast and oatmeal, etc.
