If I travel from Mexico to the US, what kind of food is allowed in my baggagge?

I'm not too sure, but I flew Aeromexico recently, and they didn't allow cheese or cream.
However, Delta, whose plane left only an hour before, allowed everything.
They had to throw away my mom's cheese and cream.
If anything, you should put food items under checked luggage.
