Default Can I claim milage on my 2007 income taxes for my wife traveling to see me and bring me clothing, bills, food,

etc, during my stay in a hospital and nursing home?

No millage is only allowed for non reimbursed business expenses.

No. You can deduct mileage for taking you to doc appts or to the hospital, but not for someone who visits you even if it is your wife and she's bringing you things you need.

I don't think that mielage works that way. Check in the instructions for claiming this and it will give you the guidelines to use and tell you what is allowed and what is not. Better yet, get a tax person.

No mileage for the items you mentioned. But if she is bringing you medical necessities like prescription medication, or medical equipment or supplies, then medical mileage would apply. When she takes you home from the facility, or brings you to the facility, that is also medical mileage. If she has to drive to a pharmacy for you, or pick up paperwork at the doctor's office, or insurance company, that would also be medical mileage.
