When travelling with family in US for 12 mths. What is the minimum time I must leave 4 be4 I can rtn?

I want to spend time seeing the country and meeting the people with my family and so do not come under any 'real' visa option.
Does anyone know of the best routine to use to stay legally in the US as a visitor....actually visiting people and places. I can prove funds etc. to support the trip. I just really want to know if there is a minimum time to speand out of the country to tick the box as having left after 3 months in country.

check with your embassy and they should be able to tell you what you need to do,,, to be able to enjoy your vacation....
