My daughter will be graduating from high school in 2007. I have been promising to take her on a trip. It has to be for less than 2 weeks. It must be fun and inexpensive. She is wanting to go to Cancun. But I don't want her to party. And she is not a beach bunny. She is interested in Anthroplogy. She likes being outdoors. She is in her 4th year of Spanish. She loves to swim and take pictures, too. This trip will be taken by her and me. Her sister who is 4 years younger will probably go, too. So, any ideas?

If anthropology is her thing, maybe a trip to see the incan pyramids? However the younger sister may be bored as hell. New York City also springs to mind as a great vacation spot. Museums, broadway shows, Ground Zero, Statue of Liberty, and it's close to DC if you'd like to drive down and see other national landmarks, you can also drive upstate against the shoreline and visit some really great new england coastals villages.

Have you thought of a cruise to the Western Carribean or even the Eastern Carribean, I know the western one visits Cozomel, Jamaica, Grand Caymens. There are the mayan ruins near Cozomel that are very interesting.
You also might want to visit Alberta Canada and Drumheller Alberta where the dinosaur ruins are. You don't say where you are , so that would depend on how expensive a trip would be. If you're in the continental US visiting Canada, til January of 07 you won't need a passport if you're driving in, but if you're flying you will. (Thank you Mr. Bush and the US Congress.) |

Consider a cruise on the USS Independence. It is an all-American run cruise ship, not a huge city on water, and offers activities both on and off the ship for all ages. There are on-board programs for young travelers that entertain them while the older people are out and about. No gambling allowed since it is always in American waters. Did this with my boys when the older one graduated from HS. Everyone came home happy!
