Default travel with family of 5?

We are a family of 5 with 2 adults and 3 kids. We want to travel on a cruise or stay at a hotel but we are always told 4 is the max. Anyone know of any sites or companies that specialize in family vacations that accomodate 5 people? Thanks.

How old are your children?

I am the oldest out of three, my parents used to have the same problem. They finally decided that at 12 and 10, my sister and me were old enough to have our own hotel room. My younger brother stayed first with my parents and in later years with us.

So you could book a double and a triple (or double with kiddie bed) situated next to each other. I mean, at home your kids have their own rooms too, don't they?

Alternatively you could go camping or look for accomodation that sleeps 6.

I used to work at the Point Sebago Resort in Casco Maine, and I distinctively remember that their park homes and their travel trailers were for 6 people. In Europe, lots of vacation homes available for rent sleep 6 people and up.

Try "extended stay" and "suites" hotels like Marriott Residence Inn. They usually have rooms for 6 people and there are amenities like a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a separate living-room type area. It costs the same or less than two regular rooms, and you don't get a kitchen with a regular hotel room. .

If no suite--type hotel is available, and one or more of the kids are under the age of 12, you can also call the regular hotels and ask (talk to a human) about a room for 4 with a roll-away bed added.
