Do airlines offer special rates to a person traveling for a reason such as a family death or sickness ?

I have had sever medical problems that have caused me to travel frequently long distances out - of - state to numerous hospitals and I am looking for advice on how to cut down costs. I would like to know if airlines offer specil rates/discounts to people who need to travel for medical emergencies.
Also, do hotels off any options like the above or are the grants for people in applicable situations and similar to mine ?

I know personally my family traveled lower fares when a parrent passed away and they had to pay regular fare back home.

For medical reasons may be a valid reduction of airfare and I would think by calling the airline customer care would be a good start to see if you qualify.

You might want to check with your medical insurance, sometimes they cover traveling expenses. go see a social worker at the hospital. Usually they would be able to help you with airline. otherwise I know they do offer some funeral discounts, but it must be immediate family only.

Sorry to say this and there is no easy way to ease your burden but the answer is - No. In fact, be careful what you say to the airlines. If they know you are travelling for treatment, they may well want to see medical information (known as "medifs") and "fit to fly" letters every time you book. If they believe there is a danger that you may go wobbly on them, no airline will let you anywhere near one of their aircraft!
