Default suppose a family starts out 50 miles from home at time t=0. They travel away from home at a constant speed of?

45 miles an hour. Whats the equation that tells you how far they'll be from home t hours later? (assume d is distance in miles)

a.) d=50t
b.) d=45t
c.)d=50t+45
d.)d=45t+50

answer is "d"

distance traveled =
rate of speed "45mph" x time spent driving
plus the 50 miles start piont from home

Speed(S) = distance(D) / time(t) .... the basic equation

45 = D / t
thus, D = 45t

they are already 50 miles away from home

so 50 miles should be added to the d that we have found out above

d = 50 + 45t

answer d
let d be the distance from home to the place they will arrive at in t time
do : distance from home to the place where t=0
di: is the initial distance travelled from the point t=0 to the point t
the speed is constant so V = di/t => di = V * t

and d = do + di
d = 50 + 45t
