We are moving to Brasov either in March or early April. When we arrive in Bucharest we will be taking a train to Brasov. We want the fastest and cleanest? What trains will suit us and which ones should we avoid? About how much per ticket for both adults and children? What about a sleeper car with door lock? Do they charge per car or per person and then for the car, what are the prices? Should we arrive in the middle of the night we will get a hotel in Bucharest and leave for Brasov the next day, what hotel is the nicest that will have a car waiting for us? Any other thoughts on hotels or trains would be most helpful.

Use a Rapid or InterCity train, they are clean and relatively fast (they take 2 and a half hours to get to Brasov - you don't need a sleeper car). The price varies if you're using First or Second class, for a Second class ticket it's around 30 lei ( ~ $ 12), I guess it's double that amount for First class. Prices are per person; you may need to book seats in advance; children below 5 can travel for free.
Avoid Personal type trains. As for hotels, there are quite a lot of them here, it all depends on your taste. |
