Default Is it ok to travel to eastern europe without a birth certificate?

I'm a canadian, traveling to polan, slovakia, hungary, and romania. I'm leaving tonight and I have misplaced my birth certificate! I have my passport, and other forms of ID... but I'm really, really worried about the birth certificate... should I be?
Awesome! thanks guys!

I don't see any reason at all why you should need a birth certificate. If you've got your passport and it's valid and genuine, then that is all you need (I'm assuming you've checked whether or not you need a visa!)
Your passport is all you need to get you into countries, and once there it will suffice as ID for hotels and for use with credit cards etc.
Be on the safe side - don't ever take your birth certificate out of the country if you aren't emigrating. If you get mugged or your room gets burgled, you really don't want to lose your passport and your birth certificate in one hit!!

In Hungary you won't need it if you go as a tourist. If you plan to stay longer or even work, than you may need a birth certificate.

Your passport IS your birth certificate . Make sure you make yourself a copy of the passport and carry it in a separate place . In fact, make two and leave one at home . Never surrender your papers to a second party . There is a lot of crime around. Some you have never heard of, so be careful.
