Rome, Italy is awesome! Rome's history as a city spans over two and a half thousand years, as one of the founding cities of Western Civilisation. Don't forget Colosseum. Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. As well as the gladiatorial games, other public spectacles were held there, such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine.

use the lonely planets websites that will give you an overall view of the places you intend to visit, go on Flickr and view pictures from these places gives you some scope to whats there.

But ask your tour guide would be a first point of call as they should have relevant information for you to have you can read and keep

If you have lots of time, consider spending a weekend in Belgrade, Serbia.
