When I ever drag myself to turn on Euro news, all I hear is about the crisis in Ukraine, Slovakia and places similar. Then, they pull themselves to mention Britain & Ireland and when they do, it's always something bad.
For example, they'd ramble on about Czech republic and Latvia and how amazing they are and how their economy is growing, then they mention the horrible economy in Ireland or the drop of the pound in Britain. Does anyone else agree? Nice Point. But, to counter it, my point is that when you turn on Euro News, we hear everything about Czech and Latvia, and nothing of western countries. Or when you do, it's very brief, or simply mentioning how bad the UK is for taking up the Euro. It almost makes me feel guilty for not living in eastern Europe. When Ireland joined the EU, there was no talk or hyph about it, unlike Poland, who may as well had a red carpet put down for them. Same applies for Cyprus, when they joined the EU, there was little-no talk of it. Unlike any eastern country. So, until they include ALL of Europe in their little chats, I think I'll stick to FOX news. |

Well given that the vast majority of countries have BBC World which does actually give a lot more news about the UK than any one single other country, then I can imagine that you percieve Euronews to be biased against the UK.
However, I don't understand what your point is even. You mention the channel discussing the "crisis" in Ukraine, Slovakia etc and then something bad in the UK. What is a crisis if it is not something bad! I assume you are talking about the gas crisis in parts of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Simple fact is that it does not affect the UK and Benelux as they draw their gas from around Norway and not via the Ukraine. I have just returned from holiday in Bosnia, and so know first-hand that this was an issue and well deserving of the media attention in order to seek a resolution A fundemental need like a warm home cannot be equated to (yet another) wonderful statment about how the UK will save the world from recession (which is all Mr Brown seems to ramble on about), and forgive for saying it - I'm not interesting in hearing him anyway. The other things you mention about Ireland's economy and the slide in the pound - well it's fact isn't it, and isn't that what news is meant to be a presentation of, afterall? Therefore perhaps Euronews is actually presenting "news" afterall, and not just propaganda. In which case, then I will actualy start to watch it more often |
