Best countries/cities to visit in Eastern Europe?

Hello all,

I'm planning a trip to Europe with my friends in August 2009 (yes, the tickets were ridiculously expensive !! ) and the plan is to go to Croatia and Budapest. What are some other must-see places? Would love some insider suggestions.

I think that if you are planning to travel EUROPE, Paris is the city you can not forget to travel

I think Greece is one of best country in Europe to travel specially in Greek Island. Many hotels and tourism facilities have been built around the beautiful beaches of Corfu and in fact many visitors choose their Corfu hotel to be close to such beaches to get benefit from the crystal water and the water sports.

I'm not at all well travelled - out of those listed, I've only been to Paris, London, Barcelona, Oxford, Cambridge, York, Stratford and Portsmouth. I'm glad Paris and London are near the top of your list - I love them both for different reasons!

I really want to visit Riga, in Latvia - I plan to go there with some friends next summer. And we might go to Tallinn (Estonia) as well...

I can highly recommend Budapest. On the one hand it's a beautiful city with a lot to see. On the other, in August, one of the biggest music festivals, the Sziget Festival is organized, which is a great event with lots of concerts and other performances.
