Does it rain in Eastern Europe in February???

I'm going on a trip to Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary for 3 weeks in February and i know its going to be INSANELY cold. but i's buying my coat pretty soon and i want to get a wool coat, but obviously, that won't work in rain... so does it rain or will it just be freezing?

It might both rain or snow, but I don´t believe it will be so INSANELY cold as you say, but of course, nowadays you never know about the weather. In my country, it usually snows before Christmas, but not this year.

To predict weather is hard, so nobody really knows, I´m sorry!

Have a nice trip, though, you are going to countries, where there is much interesting to see!

I think it doesn't rain often in Poland during February!
But there is for sure cold climate that time, good if you take some warm clothes. In Czech Republic there is similiar like in Poland, in Hungary maybe a bit more warmly. I bet it will be freezing - don't expect rain in this region, in this season.

You can expect anything from 0 -> +6 Celcius and rain, to -10 C (colder at night) and snow. Sub-zero and snow very likely in mountain areas. Woolen cloak isn't going to withstand several hours of rain, but you're not likely to be facing it.

Personally I suggest you to have multiple layers of warm clothing and a windproof / rainproof outer layer (like goretex-type jacket). This way, if you feel it's too warm, just take of a layer or two to keep yourself comfortable.

The best I would say is a warm fleece coat with a light weight waterproof coat for the outside when it rains, but I would hedge my bets on it snowing as it has done in February for the last seven years that I have been here.
And it really depends on where you are going in Poland, in the north it will not be that bad but still chilly, in the south you can count on temps going down as low as minus 10 to15 from time to time.

And to be honest I would say you are more likely to encounter snow than rain at this time of the year.
