Which country exactly you're thinking about going to??? Or is it more countries??? Let's just say it's Ukraine. "Google it" or use Wikipedia for general information about the country you're interested in. You could also go to the travel agent's and say that you're interested in going to Eastern Europe. They should be able to help you. Try to find a travel agency that specialises in trips to Eastern Europe. I'm Polish myself. If considering buying a guidebook, the individual country guides from Rough Guides tend to be slightly more informative than those from Lonely Planet.
